Facial Hair and Beard Styles

By altering your facial hair and/or your hairstyle, you can drastically change your look by emphasising or toning down certain facial features. It's also a great way to freshen up your look.

One should choose a style to suit the shape of one's face. Before even contemplating to shave or style, go and buy the best and sharpest razor you can. Remember that this excercise is about enhancing your looks. Using the wrong blade can end up in tatty results.

Pairing Face Shapes to Beard Styles

Square Face - Choose a style that makes your face look more slender. I would suggest a very light (Miami Vice type) all-over beard. Perhaps a really short hairstyle as well. (David Beckham).
Oblong/Long Face - You need a style that will shorten and soften you face structure. Go for the 5 o'clock shadow look. Let your facial hair grow for a few days (maybe a week or so); then just tidy is up a bit every couple of days.
Round Face - You need to go for a masculine look. Don't go for a very in-your-face (excuse the pun) style though and steer clear of broad sideburns. Grow a thin moustache that continues around (semi-circle) the sides of the lips and joins with the beard. Shave your neck up to just underneath the jaw. You may need to visit a barber to get very neat, sharp lines. Maintain the look with a clipper and razor, at home. The secret is to keep the rest of your face extremely smooth and clean (close) shaven. You will need a good quality blade for this.

Above are the basic shapes but you decide. At the end of the day...it's YOUR LOOK!!!

'Facebook rapist' caught after manhunt: News24: South Africa: News: "Johannesburg - Police have arrested a man believed to be the “Facebook rapist” who kidnapped and murdered women around the country.

The 22-year-old man, who uses the name Thomas Bester - one of at least 13 alleged aliases - was arrested on Wednesday night in the Alberton area, said national police spokesperson Colonel Vish Naidoo on Friday.

Bester allegedly sent women e-mails saying international modelling scouts were interested in them, said Naidoo.

He also targeted women by meeting them in person, then befriending them on Facebook, or simply befriending them on Facebook.

He is suspected of having committed a string of crimes in Cape Town, Durban and Gauteng, including the murder of a model in Milnerton last month and the rape of two models in Durban about two months ago."

You may be in an abusive relationship if he or she:

Is jealous or possessive toward you. (Jealousy is the primary symptom of abusive relationships; it is also a core component of Sexual Addictions and Love Addiction.)
Tries to control you by being very bossy or demanding.
Tries to isolate you by demanding you cut off social contacts and friendships.
Is violent and / or loses his or her temper quickly.
Pressures you sexually, demands sexual activities you are not comfortable with.
Abuses drugs or alcohol.
Claims you are responsible for his or her emotional state. (This is a core diagnostic criteria for Codependency.)
Blames you when he or she mistreats you.
Has a history of bad relationships.
Your family and friends have warned you about the person or told you that they are concerned for your safety or emotional well being.
You frequently worry about how he or she will react to things you say or do.
Makes "jokes" that shame, humiliate, demean or embarrass you, weather privately or around family and friends.
Your partner grew up witnessing an abusive parental relationship, and/or was abused as a child.Your partner "rages" when they feel hurt, shame, fear or loss of control. Both parties in abusive relationships may develop or progress in drug or alcohol dependence in a (dysfunctional) attempt to cope with the pain.
You leave and then return to your partner repeatedly, against the advice of your friends, family and loved ones.
You have trouble ending the relationship, even though you know inside it's the right thing to do.
Does the person you love...• constantly keep track of your time? have affairs?• threaten to hurt you?

What to do if this sounds familiar:

Abusive relationships do not change without sustained therapy specifically targeted toward the abusive relationship patterns. These relationships cannot be changed from one side, it takes mutual honesty, openness and willingness from both parties to work through these issues. Group therapy is highly recommended for abusers, as it helps them to break through the denial that is generally a part of the abusive patterns. (People in denial generally recognize their own dysfunctional behavior in others more easily than in themselves.) This applies to the partners of abusers as well - group helps them to break through the denial by seeing the relationship patterns from a wider view. Certain personality types are more prone to abusive relationships.

If the abuser is unwilling to own their behavior and seek help the prudent course of action is to remove yourself totally from the situation. This is painful, but is generally safer and ultimately better for both parties than allowing the cycle of abuse to continue. Be prepared for the abuse to increase after you leave - stepping out of the cycle enrages the abuser, as it shatters their illusion of control. (75% of women killed by their abusive partners are murdered after they leave.) Learn how to protect and care for yourself. Detachment with love is difficult, but the best solution if your partner is unwilling to work though the issues.

Help is readily available for both parties in abusive relationships. These relationships cannot be changed from one side. Remember that by staying you are condoning and enabling the abuse - and helping your partner to stay sick. If your partner is unwilling to get help the only safe course of action is to totally remove yourself from the situation and seek help on your own.

Do you have anger that is all-consuming? Do you harbor deep feelings of anger or resentment? Does your anger control you and your relationships?

Have you ever been so angry that you felt like you could breathe fire? Felt your cheeks burn as they turned red? Actually broken out in a sweat? Begun to tremble with rage? Not even been able to talk? Wanted to smash something or somebody and break it all to pieces? And then felt sort of sick to your stomach afterwards? Have you found yourself yelling at people without even thinking? Snapping at your kids, spouse, fellow workers?

Do you think that most of the people you know are stupid jerks who can't do anything right? Are you impatient with the people who wait on you in stores and restaurants? Do you argue with nearly everyone you meet at some point in your encounter with them?

What is Raging?

Rage is a shame based expression of anger. Rage is by definition abuse. Ragers react to strong emotions with rage. (i.e. feelings of fear, sadness, shame, inadequacy, guilt or loss convert to rage.)

Raging gives the rager a feeling of power - offsetting their shame and feelings of inadequacy.
Rage sets up a neurochemical reaction in the brain that can be addictive, producing what is known as rageaholism or ragaholics. What Rage Looks Like: Screaming, physical expressions of anger, violence or threats of violence, sulking, manipulation, emotional blackmail, silent smoldering, and anger used to punish.

"Drunk on your own brain chemicals.

Anger is one of our most primitive emotions. Feeling angry brings forth a flood of adrenalin in our bodies and our brains. You know the feeling, the rush when you feel taller than a mountain and stronger than superman, every single muscle and nerve is on red alert, you tingle all over and you believe that you could take on the whole Green Bay Packers team and win! It's almost as if we are drunk!

You're right! That's exactly it! You are drunk on your own adrenalin. You can bring on a rush of the chemical by your thoughts and actions anytime you want to. When you do, your thinking becomes impaired, you can justify your outrageous behavior, no matter what the real facts are, and know, without any doubt, that someone else is to blame. You're out of control, and you know it, but you can't stop.

Unhealthy Anger is component of Alcoholism, Addictions and Abusive Relationships. Anger management is critical to recovery from addictions and trauma, childhood sexual mental or physical abuse, and relationship recovery. Addictions are in part a coping mechanism to deal with feelings by masking them. Obviously this is a highly self destructive response to anger.

Unexpressed anger related to childhood abuses often results in addictive problems later in life. (To stuff down the feelings of shame, anger, isolation, fear, sadness and loss the abuse creates.) Very often chronic relapsers in recovery programs, or chronic addicts are survivors of childhood abuse. The sad irony is that by pushing feelings down alcohol and drugs make it impossible to work through our feelings and move past them, keeping the survivor trapped in a downward spiral.

The person or people you hurt may be the ones you love the most in the world--either way you don't like the results of your explosion. You swore you wouldn't do it again, but you just can't seem to stop. You feel guilty, and you may or may not be able to apologize. When you do apologize nobody really believes you anymore. You might even think you were justified in your explosion, blaming someone else for how you felt.

Other than seeking help, there are ways to try and break this cycle.

1. Learn to meet your unmet needs.

There is a sad, frightened child in every anger/rage addict, whether they know it or not. Once you begin to meet some of your own emotional needs, you will be more easily satisfied with what others can give you, taking a lot of stress out of relationships.

2. Identify the old behavior patterns and faulty thought processes that you have been using that maintain your addiction and destructive behavior. You need Anger Management Counseling or an Anger Management Program to help you with that.

3. Giving yourself some relief from physiological distress can also help to break anger/rage addiction cycles. Exercise, a healthy diet, relaxation or meditation can be very helpful in this area. Getting plenty of rest is also essential to alleviating physiological distress.

4. Finding healthy ways to release your anger and rage can be extremely helpful for breaking the addictive cycle.

5. Experiencing physical release and relief with healthy anger work can be a major breakthrough for some people suffering from anger/rage addiction. Feeling powerful, being loud and using physical aggression in safe, non-destructive ways lets you know that it's okay to be strong and take charge of your situation. And no one has to get hurt in the process.

Since Summer has eventually teasing us with hints of arrival, I've ballooned. It seems to affect us ladies more than the rest.

I've changed my diet a little (except for the no alcohol bit) and it is definitely helping so I thought I'd share my 'tricks' with the rest of you. Most diuretics are also great detox foods/drinks. What better time to do...just before the festive season? Diuretics also help with high blood pressure sufferers.

I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!
